St Mungo's Homeless Project

St Mungo's logoHAT has funded two homeopaths who trained at the London School of Classical Homeopathy to work in various hostels for the homeless owned by the charity St. Mungo’s. Thelma West had already been volunteering at two hostels for homeless people in London and decided to apply for funding in the hope of spreading this work a little wider. She currently visits one hostel for men only, and one mixed hostel. Claire Brockwell has started work at a women’s refuge on a fortnightly basis.

“Thanks to HAT for starting us off on a project that is already proving to be very exciting.” Thelma West

Both Claire and Thelma have found that homeopathy is very helpful to people typically presenting with insomnia, anxiety and digestive problems in these situations. Further, government cuts will reduce the numbers of permanent staff who help residents suffering from addictions – another area where homeopathy has proven helpful – making the work of Thelma, Claire and those like them all the more important.
